Most Frequently Reported Tesla Problems

In November 2019, Consumer Reports released a report identifying numerous Tesla Model 3 problems. According to the report, some of the most common issues with the Tesla Model 3 include:

  • Body hardware issues
  • Paint and trim problems
  • Hardware and electronic issues
  • Cracks in the rear windows

A survey by Bloomberg found that Tesla’s lithium ion batteries degrade slightly over time, as well. (Some loss in capacity to hold a full charge is normal in all lithium ion batteries.) The Model 3’s charging capacity is believed to decline less than 1% for every 10,000 miles of driving.

Tesla Scratch/Dent and Paint Problems

Paint was the source of approximately 12% of owner-reported issues in the Bloomberg survey, making it by far the most common source of complaints. Irregular gaps between body panels and scratches and dents were the next most frequently reported issues with Tesla Model 3s.

The good news is that scratches, dents, paint, and trim issues in Teslas are some of the absolute easiest and quickest problems to fix. Our technicians at European Collision Repair routinely address these Tesla problems, whether they were caused by collision or whether your car was delivered from the manufacturer with the defect.
